Ramirez shifted over to second base to accommodate the acquisition of Josh Donaldson, but he did plenty of damage at the hot corner prior to the move to earn this distinction. The biggest change in the 26-year-old’s game has been his power explosion. Between 2016-17, Ramirez hit 40 home runs (29 in ’17). This past year, he nearly doubled that number with 39 more dingers.
Understandably so, the pitch he punished the most was the fastball — he hit 23 homers off that offering alone. His other numbers in this situation are also equally insane, as Ramirez produced a 14.4% walk rate, 5.8% strikeout rate, 1.136 OPS, .436 ISO, and 207 wRC+ against the ol’ number one.
