Of the 8 Celtics featured (Sorry Michael Finley), 4 were drafted by Boston – Russ, Bird, Hondo and Truth. The greatest pick ever made was Larry Bird. Not only did Red Auerbach have the foresight to draft one of the greatest players in the history of the game, he had the balls to wait a year for Bird’s services. Sure, the Celtics were just two years removed from winning a championship, but the aging team was coming off a 32 win season and trending in the wrong direction.
