Sunday saw the squad earn a 4-1 victory over Kazakhstan. Korobov had two penalty minutes and 20:16 of ice time. Belarus earned a dramatic victory over Switzerland in today’s contest. Mikhail Grabovski of the Washington Capitals scored the winning goal with just over two and a half minutes to play. Korobov had his first point of the tournament with an assist on Andrei Stas’ second period goal. Belarus will meet Finland in their next match on Thursday.
Latvia: Kristers Gudlevskis AKA Tampa’s wunderkind goaltender is suiting up 
for international competition after a big coming out party in Sochi. The Latvians are currently in fifth place in Group B. So far Gudlevskis has only seen action in their 3-2 loss to Germany on Sunday. Kristers stopped 30 of the 33 shots he faced but it just wasn’t enough for Team Latvia to earn the win. Gudlevskis and his countrymen will face Kazakhstan today.
Russia: The Russians are laying waste to their competition in Minsk so far and one look at their roster 
makes it easy to see why. It’s full of names like Alex Ovechkin and other stars from their Olympic squad. They dismantled the Swiss 5-0 in the preliminary round. They downed Finland 4-2 and on Monday they absolutely decimated the United States 6-1. This game saw goalie prospect Andrei Vasilevskiy get the start in net. It also saw him turn aside 39 of the 40 shots he faced including this shot by Tyler Johnson. Russia meets Kazakhstan on Wednesday for their next game.
Slovakia: The Worlds have not been kind to Team 
Slovakia so far as they have yet to register a win. The preliminary round saw them lose to their rival neighbors from the Czech Republic. They have since fallen to Canada 4-1 and France 5-3. Bolts prospect Richard Panik has been held scoreless, but he has been averaging between 15 and 16 minutes in ice time per game. The Slovaks will take on Norway on Wednesday.
United States: The tournament got off to a great start for a young American team. They won their first two 
games against Belarus and Switzerland before running into a Russian steamroller on Monday. The Lightning are represented by Calder Trophy finalist forward Tyler Johnson. Through three games Johnson has one goal and three assists. The goal game in Sunday’s closely contested game against the Swiss ended up being the game winner. Tyler has been seeing between 16 to 18 minutes of ice time and is getting a chance to show off his prowess in the face off circle. The USA will take on Latvia and Kristers Gudlevskis on Thursday.
