Myth or Fact: The Celts Are Shooting Too Many 3s

Sheed

What's the one criticism you've heard most during the team's recent skid?

"They're shooting too many three pointers… "

With Eddie House, Rasheed Wallace and Ray Allen clanging nearly every long range shot they take, it may seem like the Celtics are taking too many 3s…

But I did some
research on the team's 3-point shooting over the past three seasons after
fourteen games.

2007 (12-2) : 103-261 (39%) – Averaged 7.1 makes/19.1 attempts for the season

2008 (12-2) :  72-223  (32%) – Averaged 6.6 makes/16.5 attempts for the season

2009 (10-4) :  93-263 (35%) -  Averaging 6.6 makes/18.8 attempts for the season

The '09 Celtics have taken two more 3-point shots than the world champion 2007-08 squad. And if
this year's team maintains the pace, they'll take 0.3
attempts less per game than the championship season.

Can the Celtics win shooting this many 3s? The answer, as history shows, is yes.

Consider this three-point shooting myth (like the Celtics deceptive rebounding stats)… debunked.
