The Celtics will finish this month with a .500 record

The Celtics, after probably losing today to drop to 4-8, are going to go on a 6-2 run to close out the month.

What inside information did I get to make such a bold proclamation after such a crappy start?

I, ummm, looked at the schedule. Let's take a look ahead together, shall we?

Mon 16  vs Oklahoma City   8:00pm    The Celtics will finish this month with a .500 record
Wed 18  vs Toronto   7:30pm  CSNHD  The Celtics will finish this month with a .500 record
Fri 20  vs Phoenix   7:30pm  CSNHD  The Celtics will finish this month with a .500 record
Sun 22  @ Washington    1:00pm  CSNHD  The Celtics will finish this month with a .500 record
Mon 23  vs Orlando   7:30pm  CSNHD  The Celtics will finish this month with a .500 record
Thu 26  @ Orlando    8:00pm  CSNHD  The Celtics will finish this month with a .500 record
Fri 27  vs Indiana   7:30pm  CSNHD  The Celtics will finish this month with a .500 record
Sun 29  vs Cleveland   6:00pm  CSNHD  The Celtics will finish this month with a .500 record
Tue 31  @ Cleveland    7:00pm  CSNHD  The Celtics will finish this month with a .500 record

The losses on the schedule are OKC, Indiana, and one of the Orlando games.  Wins over Toronto, Phoenix, Washington, Orlando and Cleveland twice will close out the month with 10 wins and 10 losses.

Just based on the Celtics current play, that's a reasonable outcome and it keeps them within striking distance heading into February.  It gives them a month to get into the shape they say the need to get into, and it gives them time to get on the same page offensively.  Then we can get into February and see if these Celtics will just look like this all season, or whether they're going to improve and show flashes of what we think, and they say, they can be.

And let's face it… after the way they've looked, wouldn't you take a .500 record by the end of the month?  I would too.  And if it doesn't happen, I'm giving everyone their money back.
