The Daily Haymaker: April 8

(Apologies for the Haymaker taking a week off last week, had a number of side projects and dumpster fires that needed my attention.  Alas!  We are back and firing away!)

Fight Announcements:

Cristiane Santos vs. Marloes Coenen to headline Invicta 6
Isaac Chilemba vs. Tony Bellew rematch to happen May 25 on Froch-Kessler II undercard

Consumables:

Oddsmaker RJ Bell on JT The Brick

Round 1: Fight!
Matt Mitrione has…um…thoughts on Fallon Fox.

(Well, Meathead is certainly entitled to his thoughts, even if he appears to have lost his damned mind. If anything, all this shows is that we may not be as far along as some people would like to think. However, since I oppose any and everything that comes out of Mitrione’s mouth, that lands an easy 10-9 for Fox.)

Round 2: Fight!
Juan Manuel Marquez wants Timothy Bradley, not Pacquiao/

(Good. A fifth fight? Come on. Manny might be pushing for it, but both guys need to move on. Bradley must be thrilled, because in articles written about him after the Manny fight, he said his offers dried right up, so I’m interested in seeing a fresh matchup. 10-9 Marquez’s sudden muscle mass. JUST FRUITS AND VEGETABLES, YOU GUYS.)

Round 3: Fight!
Ross Pearson’s Foot Not Broken.

(Well that’s cool. Good to hear. Ross is an always-game, entertaining lightweight that’s back fighting in his rightful class. He definitely adds some spice to the division and the less fighters succumb to the hated injury bug, the better. 10-8 Pearson.)

Who Won Today?
Invicta! Now Cyborg vs. Coenen II is a fight that many, myself included, will plunk down cold, hard, cash for. That is an absolutely legit main event and if Invicta stacks their card like they always do, it could and should be the biggest card of their brief history.
