Round 1: Fight!
Darren Elkins gets the call to replace Clay Guida against Chad Mendes at UFC on Fox 7.
Elkins vs. Mendes?
— Luke Irwin (@UndercardLuke) March 17, 2013
(Aside from me seperating a shoulder patting myself on the back, I really like this. Mendes’s matchmaking is usually horrible. 10-9 for both Mendes and Elkins for the challenge.)
Round 2: Fight!
According to sources, Ediane Gomes is injured and her fight with Cyborg Santos at Invicta 5 is off.
(FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUU. Was looking forward to seeing Santos knock off the rust. This doesn’t benefit everyone and I doubt they find someone to fill in on two weeks notice. 10-8 for Tito and Cyborg idiotically saying that everyone is ducking her.)
Round 3: Fight!
Adrien Broner arrested in Florida on a battery charge.
(Not much is known at the time, and Broner posted his mugshot to his own Instagram and Twitter, so while any arrest is troubling, an obtuse “battery” charge against a fighter who then posted his own mugshot doesn’t exactly seem like he’ll get the chair. Also, 5’8″? Really? Generous down south. 10-8 for the Miami Dade Correctional Facility’s Measuring Stick. Team Alpha Male should move their camp there.)
Who Won The Day?
Darren “The Damage” Elkins. He wanted a Top-10 guy? He got one. Plus it’s on short notice, so he’ll have that additional goodwill and less pressure to win.
