Two quick updates: First, my Pittsburgh Magazine story for this week is posted here. Second, Garrett Olson is out and Joe Beimel is in.
Tonight, we get a real test of Charlie Morton’s resurgence. The offense is scuffling, the team’s racked five losses in a row, and they’re playing the Reds. They need a strong start from Morton tonight to stop this thing before it gets really ugly (if you don’t think it’s really ugly yet).
If Morton can’t rein in his control some, I think the Reds are going to punish him for it a lot more than the Cardinals and Rockies did. Hopefully, his evolution as a pitcher continues tonight.
