The Red Sox will option Josh Reddick to Pawtucket today and bring up Daniel Nava.
Outfielder Daniel Nava has inarguably been the best offensive player in the Red Sox minor league system over the past two seasons. In 147 games since signing a minor league deal with Boston prior to the 2008 season, Nava has hit .345 with a .961 OPS, 49 doubles, 15 home runs, and 95 RBIs.
A few years ago nobody would have believed that Nava would be in the bigs, but he overcame the odds and could get into his first major league game today against the Phillies at Fenway.
