The Fifth Starter Strikes Again

dice-K

The Red Sox paid front of the rotation money for Dice-K so people keep expecting him to be an ace.  This season he is the team’s fifth starter and he has been pitching like it.  He will have a great start followed by a disappointing one like last night, that’s what fifth starters are like.  Matsuzaka gave up a four run lead to the Rays and ruined what would have been a great night for newcomer Eric Patterson who hit two homers in the game.   With the loss Matsuzaka’s record drops to 5-3 with a 4.7 ERA, pretty standard stuff for a fifth starter.
