The First Tweets From Some of Your Favorite Players

6

It’s hard to believe, but only a handful of baseball players have more than a million followers on Twitter. And the ones that do (Nick Swisher, Yu Darvish and Mike Trout) aren’t even some of the best tweeters in the Majors.

But, they had to start somewhere.

Here’s a look at the first tweets of baseball’s most popular tweeters and, naturally, its most entertaining.

Brandon Phillips is one of the game’s more socially active players. His first tweet gave baseball fans an idea what they could expect.

Boston Red Sox slugger David Ortiz started tweeting exactly how you would expect him to.

Mike Trout’s Twitter debut was an interesting one. Then again, dude was barely 19 at the time.

Pitcher Brandon McCarthy is a favorite of many…and his first tweet was gold.

And speaking of gold…ladies and gentlemen, Dan Haren.

Ever the minimalist, Yasiel Puig opted to drop a cryptic first tweet.

As exciting as they are on the field, Kris Bryant and Hanley Ramirez were less than impressive with their initial tweets.

Chipper Jones has had his fair share of controversial tweets. The future Hall of Famer has even quit a few times. His debut was on par with what you can expect.

My all-time favorite first tweet has to belong to LaTroy Hawkins however.

Classic.
