Flyers win 4 in a row after defeating Boston!
Wow! That was a fun game to watch, as games against Boston usually are. The Flyers came into this game on a 3 game win streak with Boston dropping their last 2. If this team was the same Flyers team from November you might think that the they wouldn’t have had a chance, which honestly they probably wouldn’t have. However, fast forward to the present and you can easily see the improvements made and how the Flyers are really flourishing under Dave Hakstol’s system.
The team was led by great efforts from Claude Giroux and Jake Voracek. Giroux finished with 3 assists for 3 points. Voracek chipped in a goal and 2 assists for 3 total points. Wayne Simmonds and Mark Streit would also light the lamp.

The first period was very physical, a lot of checking and really tight play. Pretty early on Brayden Schenn absolutely destroyed Torey Krug with a great, clean check in the Flyers’ offensive zone along the boards. He would have to hold his own as Kevan (I spell my name with an A) Miller would race over to meet Schenn in close combat. Both would go to the box with fighting majors yet somehow Miller steered clear of an instigator penalty. meh.
Throughout the rest of the period both teams would provide offense with good zone entries and great puck movement. But it would be the Flyers to capitalize first as Jake the Snake was able to corral a rebound right past Tuukka Rask down low to put the Flyers on top. Giroux would draw the assist. 1-0 Flyers.
The second period would prove to be a lot more difficult as Boston took control of the game. Steve Mason would keep the team alive but a really bad line change, which put 4 men out on the ice for the Flyers, would cost them. Boston was able to capitalize as Max Talbot fed Kevan Miller who would wrist one past Mason. 1-1.

Late in the period Medvedev would go off with an interference minor putting Boston on the powerplay. It didn’t take long for Boston to capitalize on it as Nick Shultz, who played in his 1,000th NHL game *shivers*, and Radko Gudas lost Loui Eriksson down low. All he had to do was scoop up a rebound right off of Mason and the Bruins would take the lead. 2-1 Boston.
The third period was really close in terms of chances, both teams would go back and forth and it kind of felt like the Flyers would come up short as Brandon Manning would take a poorly called delay of game minor close to half way through the period. The Flyers would kill the minor and explode with ferociousity. Giroux would fed Simmonds from the D zone and Wayne and Jake would play a little give and go up the neutral until Simmonds reached the offensive zone. He took a shot in close which would be saved but ol’ Wayne Train scooped up the rebound right past Rask. This would ensue a very excited Claude Giroux to come over and celebrate with Wayne by uhhhhh celebrating hump day? 2-2.
A minute later a great play that started in the defensive zone would put the Flyers on top. Mark Streit fed Voracek, who would bring up the through the neutral zone with a little help from Giroux. When he entered the offensive zone he would find a streaking Streit who would get a shot off, then take the rebound and shelf it past Rask from a really nice angle in close. 3-2 Flyers.
The Flyers would then end the game by missing like 5000000 empty net chances but would hold on and take the game 3-2.
Standout star: Jake Voracek
Special Teams: Flyers went 0 for 3 on the powerplay and killed off 1 of 2 penalties.
