CBS SPORTS BROADCASTS PGA TOUR’S “ZURICH CLASSIC OF NEW ORLEANS” AND CHAMPIONS TOUR’S “LIBERTY MUTUAL LEGENDS OF GOLF” APRIL 24-25

CBS Sports broadcasts a golf doubleheader this weekend with coverage of the PGA TOUR’s ZURICH CLASSIC OF NEW ORLEANS and the Champions Tour’s LIBERTY MUTUAL LEGENDS OF GOLF.

The ZURICH CLASSIC returned to TPC Louisiana in 2007 after extensive damage from Hurricane Katrina had moved the event to English Turn Golf and Country Club where it was previously played from 1989-2004.  The 2006 Zurich Classic was the first major sporting event to be held in New Orleans since Katrina. CBS Sports broadcasts third- and final-round coverage on Saturday, April 24  and Sunday, April 25 (3:00-6:00 PM, ET,  both days).

Jim Nantz, 2009 National Sportscaster of the Year, his fifth overall, now in his 25th year covering golf at CBS, serves as anchor of CBS Sports’ golf coverage. Sir Nick Faldo, winner of six majors and more than 40 tournaments worldwide serves as lead analyst alongside Nantz in the 18th hole tower. Ian Baker-Finch calls the action at the 17th hole and Gary McCord at the 16th hole. Peter Kostis serves as on-course reporter. Lance Barrow is Coordinating Producer and Steve Milton is Director of CBS Sports’ golf coverage.  Harold Bryant is Vice President, Production, CBS Sports.

Jerry Kelly returns to defend his title this week after capturing his third career win last year in New Orleans.  Kelly took control of the tournament with a 3-under 69 in the third round and then hung on to defeat Charles Howell III, Rory Sabbatini and Charlie Wi by a stroke.  Sergio GarciaK.J. Choi, Andres Romero, Steve Flesch, Tim Petrovic, Scott McCarron, Brad Faxon
, Chris Couch
and Louisiana native David Toms.  Also competing are Mike Weir,  Ian Poulter, Rocco Mediate, David Duval, Stephen Ames, Boo Weekley, Mark Calcavecchia, Carlos Franco, Tim Herron, Brandt Snedeker, Steve Marino, Rich Beem, Fred Funk, Howell III, Sabbatini and Wi.

Defending champions Bernhard Langer and Tom Lehman return to the Champions Tour’s LIBERTY MUTUAL LEGENDS OF GOLF as CBS Sports broadcasts third- and final-round coverage on Saturday, April 24 and Sunday April, 25 (1:00-3:00 PM, ET, both days), live from Savannah Harbor Golf Resort and Spa in Savannah, Ga.

Bill Macatee and Bobby Clampett call the action from the 18th hole tower.  Matt Gogel provides analysis from the 17th hole tower and Billy Kratzert serves as on-course reporter.  Jim Rikhoff produces and Bob Matina directs.

Making his Champions Tour debut last year, Lehman teamed with Langer to win in a playoff over Jeff Sluman and Craig Stadler. Both teams return and take on an all-star Legends Division field which includes teams of Fred Couples/Jay Haas; Ben Crenshaw/Curtis Strange;  Mark O’Meara/Nick Price; John Jacobs/Fuzzy Zoeller; Andy North/Tom Watson; Tom Kite/Gil Morgan and Hale Irwin/Larry Nelson.

That does it.
