According to Flyers GM Paul Holmgren, the Philadelphia Flyers have came to an agreement with the Greenville Road Warriors to become the team’s ECHL affiliate for the 2013-14 season. If you don’t remember, the Flyers had an ECHL agreement with the Trenton Titans until they ceased operations last season.
What this all means is now that the Flyers can assign players to Greenville who are under contract with them or the Adirondack Phantoms, the Flyers’ AHL affiliate. But also players who are under contract with Greenville can be called up to the AHL. Last season, Greenville’s record was 36-28-2 with 80 points and qualified for the playoffs.
Coincidentally enough, the Flyers were affiliated with Greenville in the 2010-11 and 2011-12 seasons. Current Flyers that have spent time with Greenville were Marc Andre-Bourdon, Cullen Eddy, and Steve Delisle. Andre-Bourdon and Eddy spent time with Greenville beginning in 2010 and Delisle spent time with them for the 2012-13 season.
