Tonight will be the first game Marc Staal plays against his brother Eric in Carolina since this incident last season that left the Rangers defenseman with a concussion forcing him to miss half this season…
[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0x5xPlUOPhU&w=450&h=315]On playing against his brother again Marc said…
“I don’t think it’s going to be any different for me or Eric. I think it’s just going to be another game we both want to win and we’re both going to compete hard.”
…i don’t care what Marc says, it’s going to be a little awkward for him out there. Especially when they inevitably come together on a hit or battle for a puck.
Christopher Botta at the New York Times reports that Eric seems have had a weight lifted off his shoulders since Marc returned to playing.
Eric has 29 points in the 23 games since Marc skated in the Winter Classic, which is four more than he had in the previous 40 games, and he is a +7 after starting the season with a league worst -22 through December 31st.
Eric said this regarding whether Marc’s comeback had anything to do with his turnaround…
“I don’t think so, but maybe subconsciously there were things weighing on me that were more in effect than I thought.”
…maybe? Maybe?!?!?! You almost end your brother’s career and you don’t think it might have been weighing on you? Can you say denial?
