Selecting a freshman phenom from Cal and the always mysterious pick of an international prospect now are apart of the 17 time world champion Celtics as they enter the bottom half of the 1st round with questions looming around if trades will happen involving the Celtics and with all of those picks.
Ainge and company have constant been on the phones trying to work something out but as their last pick of the 1st round approached, players that would’ve fit their system nicely like Ellenson, Beasley, and Valentine but they still have quality players on the board to choose from OR they decide to package up a deal that sends picks or players for future picks and a star player that is a difference maker.
Danny Ainge and company decided to stay international as they selected Ante Zizic, center out of Croatia. is arguably the most pro ready international player from this draft according to experts. A “mean streak” to him, Zizic is an interesting prospect coming out of Croatia and maybe down the line, Zizic can be a difference maker for the C’s down low but he also is a trade asset for some team if Ainge decides to package up a deal.
Zizic has averaged roughly 9 boards a game through his international stats this year.
