Ross Ohlendorf makes his first start in almost five months tonight and it looks like Aaron Thompson may be tomorrow night’s starter. I think that means that it’s time to batten down the hatches and prepare ourselves for a repeat of last year’s 20-0 pasting, because I have no real faith in the ability of either guy to get big league hitters out. At least Brad Lincoln and Jeff Karstens were solid enough last night shore up the bullpen some for tonight and tomorrow night. Still … I’m not terribly high on the team’s chances to earn a split here.
The Brewers are sending Marco Estrada, who just dominated the Pirates in Milwaukee ten days ago. He’s since followed that up with a decent start against LA and so he’s getting his third start in a row now. The Pirates have saved the career of another middling journeyman pitcher! Hopefully the top of the order can get something going tonight and Ohlendorf will find himself.
First pitch tonight is at 7:05.
