I’ve called for the Bucs to go 8-8 this year, so its time I set the details so you guys can say WOW how smart I am, or WOW what an idiot! Now keep in mind, anything can happen, Josh Freeman can go down, K2 could be injured, Mike Williams could go down, etc, so these predictions are made September 1st and go by what events are before us on September 1st. The Bucs never go undefeated at home, but they usually win more than they lose. the Bucs dont win on the west coast, but I say they do for the first time since 1980, because 30 years is a long time to go between beating the 49ers on the road! So Here we go… 0-0 9/12 CLEVELAND- WIN 1-0 9/19 @ Carolina- Loss 1-1 9/26 PITTSBURGH WIN 2-1 10/10 @ Cincinnati WIN 3-1 10/17 NEW ORLEANS Loss 3-2 10/24 ST.LOUIS RAMS WIN 4-2 10/31 @ Arizona Loss 4-3 11/7 @ Atlanta Loss 4-4 11/14 CAROLINA LOSS 4-5 11/21 @ San Francisco Win 5-5 11/28 @ Baltimore Loss 5-6 12/5 ATLANTA Loss 5-7 12/12 @Washington Win 6-7 12/19 DETROIT Win 7-7 12/26 Seattle Win 8-7 1/2 @ New Orleans Loss 8-8 Final Record So what am I trying to say? How do I feel the season will go? and why? YOUNG TEAMS START OUT HOT- Every time you have a young up and coming team, and the Bucs have a ton of young talent, and they are up and coming, you start out hot. This team is no exception, and its happened here before. In 1995 the young Bucs started 5-2. In 1987 the Bucs started out good but that was a strike year. 1989 the Bucs started out with a young Vinny Testeverde too. I dont see 2010 as any exception, but it comes at a cost. A CLOSE LOSS LINGERS WITH YOUNG PLAYERS- Even though Coach Raheem Morris preaches against mental weakness, young players just can’t help it. A last second loss to Detroit in 1989 killed what was starting out to be a great season. 1992 was a great year under Sam Wyche at first, but a close loss to lowly Indianapolis lingered on way too long and killed that season too. A heartbreaking loss on the road to Arizona where the team will feel they should have won, will probably be the one that does 2010 in for these youngsters. GOOD TEAMS FINISH WELL- and this really is turning into a good team. They won 2 of 3 last year, and this time they will play a close loss to Atlanta at home, but its going to really infuriate the players. At that point, they will cross the line and learn about what it takes to win in the NFL. They will win the rest of their games except the finale’ vs the Saints who will beat the Bucs; but only on a last minute play. The team will feel like they are ready to compete on a regular basis. But what if Coach Morris can teach these kids to not let these issues get to them? Hmmm…
