The Five “Other” Knuckleballers

The website for the movie "Knuckleball!" claims that, other than Tim Wakefield and R.A. Dickey, there are “just four other living knuckleballers” – Phil Niekro, Charlie Hough, Wilbur Wood and Tom Candiotti.

There are actually at least five other living knuckleballers.

Daniel Boone

A direct descendant of that Daniel Boone, this Daniel Boone jumpstarted a stagnant career with the knuckleball in 1989.  In 1991, he became the oldest player ever listed as a “rookie prospect” on a Score baseball card.

Jared Fernandez

“Fast knuckleballer” Jared Fernandez pitched parts of five seasons in the Majors in the early 2000s.

Charlie Haeger
