Today, the Philadelphia Phillies took on the Miami Marlins in the home opener and the Phillies loss. The Philadelphia Phillies loss to the Miami Marlins 6-2. Phillies pitcher Cole Hamels got the start today for the home opener and he did not pitch well. Hamels’ line was: 5.1 IP, 8 H, 3 ER, and 9 strikeouts. His opposition, Marlins starting pitcher Anibal Sanchez pitched very well. Sanchez’s line was: 6.1 IP, 6 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, and 4 strikeouts.


Just like the series in Pittsburgh, the Phillies offense was cold again. The Phillies got their first two and only runs of the game off of the bat of second baseman Freddy Galvis. It was a double and it was Galvis first hit of his major league career. Finally, the top two hitters in the Phillies lineup, Juan Pierre and Placido Polanco went 0 for 8.
