No surprises today, but as per DK, everything is official; Ramon Vazquez is out, Steve Pearce is going to Triple-A, and John Raynor, Hayden Penn, Jack Taschner, and DJ Carrasco are all officially Pirates. The only real question left was Penn, after his rough outing against the Phillies yesterday, would make the club. But since the club went out of their way to pluck him off of waivers and endure the bad press of letting Brandon Moss go, it shouldn’t be a surprise that he made the club at all.
Taschner and Penn will likely both be pitching for their jobs with Joel Hanrahan on the 15-day DL and his return coming in the not too distant future, but that’s a conversation for a different day.
