The Scott Gomez era is over with the Blues

The Scott Gomez era with the St. Louis Blues is over. The team placed Gomez on unconditional waivers, signaling his release from the squad. This news comes shortly after the Blues announced that Patrik Berglund has been cleared for contact which would lead to a logjam at forward.

Gomez served the Blues well during his brief stint with the team. Over 21 games, Gomez tallied one goal and seven assists, skating with a variety of teammates. He played extremely well out of the gate, making some outstanding passes and setting up several offensive opportunities.

He soon cooled, even though the Blues had the depth to use him sparingly. Soon other options such as Magnus Paajarvi and Scotte Upshall became more attractive than the 36-year-old forward. With Patrik Berglund and Kyle Brodziak nearing a return, there was simply no room left for Gomez on the roster.
