Just as it seemed like the Sixers would not make any moves in NBA Free Agency, they made major moves this morning. The first move that the team made was sign free agent SG Nick Young. Young played 40 games with the Washington Wizards and then the last 22 games with the Los Angeles Clippers to end this past season. With the Clippers, Young averaged 9.7 points per game but overall for this past season he averaged 14.2 points per game. Young and the Sixers agreed to a one year, $6 million contract.

The Sixers will not be able to sign Nick Young until July 11th. The Sixers was able to make this move because the second move they made was that they used the amnesty clause on Elton Brand. This means that the final year that he had left on his contract which was $18 million will come off the Sixers books and give them some cap space. This move will also come official on July 11th. According to many sources, there are already teams such as the Nets and Mavericks thinking about taking a look at the former Sixer.

Finally, the last move of the day came via twitter from Lou Williams. Lou Will tweeted (@TeamLou23): Philly, I appreciate you all. Unfortunately I will not be coming back, as an organization they decided to move in a different direction.” This move was expected as the Sixers signed Nick Young. Here at TSL we wish Lou Will the best of luck where ever he goes. He was great sixth man for the Sixers and nobody will ever forget his Game 4 shot in the face of Dwyane Wade.
