The Ty Nsekhe test and the ‘new’ Redskins

The new preliminary, don’t take it too seriously, Redskins depth chart came out and the first name I rushed to see was Ty Nsekhe.

It’s early, but I wanted to know if the same old cronyism is going on now that has happened with the roster for some time.  Do new, unheard of guys really have a fair shot regardless of their background?

Ty Nsekhe is a great case in point.  If you have a political roster situation, Nsekhe is not going to move up the charts.  He’s a classic journeyman going from being undrafted, to Arena Football, to 30 days on the Colts roster.  But, the underground reports have been that this mammoth of a mountain was almost unbeatable in one on one drills.

To see his name ahead of Tom Compton was a thrill. Maybe it isn’t business as usual with the Redskins after all.

Seeing Niles Paul as first Tight End also was another sign that things have changed.

The next big test will be the play calling.  The test people will probably give Gruden is whether he abandons the run or not.  But that’s another article.
