The NHL must be doing well on Versus. The network has begun airing games later in the week, not just the Monday/Tuesday slate they used to. It takes some pretty solid programming to knock the rodeo off the air on Versus. In honor of this expanded lineup, we’re going to look at the Wednesday game, a contest between the Rangers and Penguins. Maybe someday Versus will air games from the Western Conference.
To anyone that doesn’t live in New York, New York fans are annoying. This goes for any sport, and any team, from the Rangers to the Yankees, Jets, Mets, Giants and I assume the Knicks, if they have any fans. They are too loud and brash for my Midwestern sensibilities, and I assume that everyone from Boston to Philadelphia hates each other. What really surprises me from this match up is how whiny the Pens fans have become.
Perhaps I have a small sample size, but I am pretty sick of the Pittsburgh fans I know grousing about the “haters” out there. Yes, they used the word haters. “Why are people still talking about the slew foot, it wasn’t even a penalty?” “Why doesn’t anyone like Sidney Crosby, he’s awesome!” “You just don’t understand how important hockey is in Pittsburgh” Note the last statement was said to a Minnesotan. Just enjoy your success jackasses. I hope the Rangers win this one 14 to -2

… when Derek Boogaard is on the ice, and for every minute he spends in the penalty box. You know he’s in New York so someone else will take blows to the face besides Sean Avery. Sean Avery is a bitch.
… when, speaking of bitches, Marian Gaborik injures his groin.
… if the play has to be halted when the puck gets stuck in Pascal Dupuis eyebrows
… if you are just now realizing that every player the rules revolve around former Wild players. I am self centered.
The drinking player of the week is Marc Staal!
Here is the young defenseman playing at Rangers casino night. He’s not old enough to get into a real casino. What do the prescient commenters of talk-sports.net have to say?
– In response to whether or not he has a girlfriend, an anonymous user replies “YES HE DOES. NO I DON’T KNOW HER NAME OR OTHER INTO. HOW DO I KNOW? HIS FACEBOOK SAYS SO. AND IT IS REAL.” The citation of Facebook and use of caps leave me to believe this is 100% accurate. Sorry ladies.
– There is a lot of talk about his latest contract with the Rangers. Not that the Talk-Sports ladies are chasing money or anything.
– There is a lot of gossip about Brandon Prust on Staal’s page, including a picture of him with a girlfriend and the allegation that Prust cheats on her. Marc Staal is more boring than Brandon Prust.
