Hello sports fans and especially my Celtics fans! I’ve been gone for a minute, but I’m finally back!
The wait is finally over, well at least for the Boston Celtics! Today, the Celtics hired Brad Stevens as the new head coach. Brad Stevens is from Zionsville, Indiana. During his collegiate years, he was a three-time Academic All-American nominee before graduating at DePauw University. Brad later then became an assistant head coach under Thad Matta at Butler. In 2007, Brad Stevens became head coach. During his tenure, Stevens led the Bulldogs to back-to-back national championship games in 2010 and 2011. Brad is the youngest coach to reach the final four since Bob Knight in 1973.
Since Brad has joined the Boston Celtics organization, he is now faced with rebuilding issues. Both Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce have made Brooklyn their new home. The only all-star left on the team is Rajon Rondo. We all are witnesses to Rondo’s anger issues on and off the court. As a fan there are several questions to be asked. If Rondo is a problem for Brad will Rondo be traded? Will Brad be able to take the criticism of not winning games? Will he be able to turn the bad into good? Nonetheless, Danny Ainge looks forward to working with him, so the Celtics can get banner number 18.
This transition is going to be very difficult. Most college coaches who have decided to join the NBA have ran into many problems. Hopefully, Brad Stevens will be able to get over these proposing obstacles throughout the season. I’m happy with the decision Danny Ainge has made. I honestly think Danny wants to stay young. The Boston Celtics are now considered a young team now that the Big Three (Garnett, Pierce, and Allen) all have their new homes. This will be an experience for both Kelly Olynyk and Colton Iverson (who were selected in this year draft) and the rest of the team. Welcome aboard to the Boston Celtics, Brad Stevens!
