You’ve got a job. Maybe kids. Maybe school. And 1,000 other things to worry about – it’s hard keeping up with all the stories coming from practice baseball camp in Florida.
We’re here to help. Let’s take a look at the news that made news this past week that was in Cardinals spring training.
Story: Peter Bourjos is generating some HOT takes.
#HOTTake: Pete is gripping. Hard. He volunteered his services for a ‘B’ game this past week. He’s claiming his hip is feeling good. And he’s still sporting a .050 BA heading into the second to last week of spring baseball. Please click the link above to see how the normally level-headed Scott Wuerz is treating the situation in an opinion piece for the Belleville News-Democrat.
Story: Wainwright and Lynn will return to pitching this week.
#HOTTake: Not real games, but simulated ones. Both seem to be on track from their original injury projections. The chances of both starters starting the season in the rotation is still TBD. This week will provide more clarity. First step, though? Getting back on the bump. That happens this week.
Story: The Cardinals have started to make roster cuts.
#HOTTake: Mike Ohlman, Steve Bean, Alberto Rosario (all catchers), John Gast and Mike Mayers (both pitchers) were all reassigned to either AAA or minor league camp this week. Gast is the only one you’ve seen in a St. Louis Cardinals uniform. None were big surprises. The roster will continued to be whittled down this week.
Story: The Cardinals announced radio & TV broadcast schedule.
#HOTTake: You’ll be able to watch every game on TV and hear every game on radio. Hard to believe that not long ago this was actually a concern for fans.
