The Week That Was In Cardinals Spring Training (Part VI)

You’ve got a job. Maybe kids. Maybe school. And 1,000 other things to worry about – it’s hard keeping up with all the stories coming from practice baseball camp in Florida.

We’re here to help. Let’s take a look at the news that made news this past week that was in Cardinals spring training.

Story: Jaime’s hurt.

#HOTTake: Sigh. He and the Cardinals are presenting this as nothing more than a ‘minor setback’. If power could be derived from the collective eye roll from Cardinal Nation, we’d could have saved a bunch on electric bills this month. Let’s hope that this is just a setback. But we’ll see.

Story: Sam Freeman was traded.

#HOTTake: Sam pitched in 44 games for the Cardinals in 2014 and logged 38 innings… so not an insignificant move for the Cardinals. In return, the Cardinals will get a player to be named later or cash. Freeman lives outside the Dallas area, so he’s (assuming here) happy to be headed to the Rangers.

Story: You’re good.

#HOTTake: Congratulations, St. Louis – you’re good fans. Nay, the BEST fans. You probably already knew this, but it’s good that reputable sources are confirming it.

Story: Fall Out Boy will kick off Cardinals season.

#HOTTake: This will be the first time that a live musical act will kick off Opening Day. If you’re watching at home, you’ll only get to see 1 song. But if you’re in stadium? Then you’ll get 3. Who do you think the biggest FOB fan is on the Cards? Has to be Jordan Walden, right?
