The Winter Classic

Friday was the not the best night ever if you are a Boston sports fan. If you were down in Miami gearing up for Sunday’s Pats game there is some positives, but with most eyes focused on where the Patriots play at least eight Sundays every year, was the NHL Winter Classic. The Boston Bruins playing outdoors at Gillette Stadium against arch rivals, the Montreal Canadiens. The Bruins came into this game already losing two out of three games to the Habs this year. The B’s also were down three top players as Torey Krug and David Krejci battle injury and Brad Marchand is out on his three game suspension for a low hit from Tuesday game versus the Senators. The Canadiens were also missing perhaps one of the best players in the today’s game as well as league MVP Carey Price is out with an injury. Despite all the hype of an outdoor game the Canadiens managed it extremely well, as an away team, as they were on fire all night, while the Bruins never seemed to get anything going. The final was 5-1 in favor of the Habs and they rolled with it the whole way, as the Bruins were flat the first 30 minutes of the game until a few failed power plays gave them a little life, however another Montreal goal making it 3-0 squandered that quickly. The Bruins got good play from Ryan Spooner, but no was really able to shine. Matt Beleskey picked up the Bruins lone goal, while Paul Byron had two for the Habs. Mike Condon the Canadiens goaltender played very well, in a return home as he grew up in Massachusetts. The Bruins take on Washington Capitals next Tuesday night as they try to get back to the winning way.
