As if the Milwaukee Brewers weren’t giving enough to fans who like “stuff,” what with loads of bobbleheads, gnomes and T-shirts, the team introduced the 2015 Theme Nights on Tuesday, and they are spectacular.  Theme Nights revolve, as you’d expect, around a theme and feature an exclusive freebie item with a special ticket offer for four select games.  The Theme Nights are: Country Night, Star Wars Night, Zubazpalooza and Major League Night.

For the Star Wars and Major League events, only 4,000 freebies will be offered, while the quantity for the others is less clear.  In any case, the first Theme Night arrives Friday May 29 versus the D-Backs in the form of Country Night.  All fans can hear singer Joe Nichols after the game but only folks who buy tickets through the special offer get a Brewers cowboy hat.  That hat doesn’t look too bad, if you’re into that.  The cool thing is that tickets for these events aren’t bloated in price, with Terrace Reserved seats available for $18 for Country Night.

There’s been an awakening…have you felt it?  With Star Wars returning to the big screen in Episode VII due in December, it’s a great year to host Star Wars Night at Miller Park complete with a “Jedi Luc” bobblehead.  Lucroy does seem like a Jedi, doesn’t he?  Particularly with the facial hair and stoic demeanor.  In this universe, Braun would probably be a Sith.  Wouldn’t that be an epic light-saber battle?  Oddly enough, this is the next evening following Country Night.  I guess the Brewers want to pack them in as much as possible prior to the true beginning of summer in Wisconsin.  Only $22 for Terrace Reserved.

It’s news to me, but Zubazpalooza is back for the third straight year at Miller Park.  On Friday June 12 against the Nats, fans who buy the special Theme Night tickets will get a pair of ’90s-themed Brewers Zubaz pants.  For some reason tickets to this night are only available in the Loge Outfield Box for $34.  Perhaps that way the cameras can easily capture the group of wild things that will be congregated in one section?  I dunno.  Friday June 12 is also the date of a Brewers T-shirt giveaway for all fans.  So some weirdos will be going home with a whole new outfit, albeit clashing garishly.

Finally, the Brewers will host Major League Night on Tuesday July 21 against, of course, in a rare Milwaukee appearance, the Indians.  This will no doubt raise the profile of a Tuesday mid-summer game, and righteously so, since Brewers legend Bob Uecker was the sardonic Harry Doyle in that classic film.  Let’s also not forget that many great scenes in the movie were filmed at old County Stadium.  I would venture that this promo could even bring Indians fans on a road trip to Miller Park.

The talking Harry Doyle bobble will feature impeccable quotes like: “This guy threw at his own kid in a father-son game,” “Personally, I think we got hosed on that call” and “Juuust a bit outside.”  Clearly they got this one right.  The Cleveland Indians, the highlighted team in Major League, did a themed night like this a couple years ago, but this rendition is superior.  Plus, you can get the Doyle bobble simply by buying a Terrace Reserved seat for $19 via the special package.  Whatta deal.

All Theme Night tickets must be purchased in advance, but that’s really no big obligation, because if you’re jazzed about one or more of these unique deals you’ll want to get a spot reserved.  The Brewers are a powerhouse when it comes to freebies, and this only puts further jewels in their crown of giveaways.  Personally I’m into the Star Wars and Major League nights a lot and the Country and Zubaz Nights very little, but these special packages are diverse enough to appeal to a broad swath of Brewers fans and offer cool incentives to come out to the park.  Plus they are niche enough that they don’t require the Brewers to order 40,000 of each item, which has to be a significant financial savings for the club.

Bravo, Brewers.  Once again the team has gone out of its way to offer additional value to fans.  Keep it up.  Hopefully the performance of the team will make sure the giveaways are just a bonus and not the main attraction.
