The Red Sox missed out on bringing Alex Gonzalez back on the cheap by waiting to see if there were other options and the same thing may happen with Takashi Saito. The Red Sox did not pick up his option with the hope that they could bring him back for less money if Billy Wagner goes elsewhere. There are now eight teams interested in Saito so there is a chance that Boston could be without either Wagner or Saito next season. We’ll find out soon if Wagner accepts arbitration, if he doesn’t Theo needs to get busy bringing back Saito if he is still available.
