It’s merely late October, so there aren’t games with apparent playoff implications quite yet. Most teams have a long view on things. As long as teams play hard, and the losses don’t string together, it’s more important that teams stay healthy. There is a reason that playoff hockey is so much more enjoyable to watch, and it is that every game is important, rather than, say, every week. If you want a little bit of juice in a game tonight, however, take a gander at NHL Network, where the Flyers and Penguins are playing. That should have a little pep. The Penguins are coming off a Stanley Cup winning season, while the Flyers are coming off of whatever the opposite is. Doesn’t matter. Even if the teams are of disparate skills, they are in the same state, and there is real animosity. Enjoy this little fiasco.
