November 9, 2014 is set to be the biggest event in CrossFit this year since this past summer’s 2014 CrossFit Games. Sunday marks the third annual CrossFit Invitational at the SAP Center in San Jose, California. The invitational is a team based competition in which athletes are divided by their respective countries. What’s new for this year’s competition is that it’s no longer “Team USA vs. Team World” format, now four regions of the world will be represented. They are Team USA, Team Canada, Team Europe, & Team Australia. Each team will have two male athletes and two female athletes with one coach.
Some of the biggest names in CrossFit will be competing. The Men’s champion for the past four years, Rich Froning will represent Team USA. 2014 CrossFit Games Women’s champion Camille Leblanc-Bazinet will compete for Team Canada. 2011 and 2012 Women’s champion Annie Thorisdottir will compete for Team Europe and Kara Webb for Team Australia.
Team USA won the first invitational, while Team World won the second. Who will win this year is anyone’s guess. Click here for a complete list of events.
