Today is the twelfth anniversary of one of the most famous moments in Eagle’s history.
On January 11, 2004, the Philadelphia Eagles were trailing the Green Bay Packers 17-14 late in the fourth quarter. The Eagle’s had the ball at their own 20 yard line needing a field goal to send the game into overtime. Duce Staley would get things rolling with a 22 yard run to the Philadelphia 42. However, the drive took a turn for the worst after that. First down brought about a Donovan McNabb incomplete pass. McNabb would drop back on second down only to be sacked for a 16 yard loss. The city of Philadelphia was holding their collective breathe with little hope remaining. Third down would be no friendlier to the Eagles as McNabb would once again throw an incomplete pass.
Philadelphia was in trouble. The Eagles were faced with a 4th and 26 with only 1:12 remaining in the game. This would set the stage for one of the greatest plays in Philadelphia history:

The Eagles would go on to tie the game on a David Akers’ field goal to send the game into overtime. In overtime, Brian Dawkins would pick off Brett Farve to set up David Akers for the game winning field goal.
The Eagles would advance to the NFC Championship game only to see their season end against the Carolina Panthers.
