The Pirates play the Cubs tonight. I predict that the Pirates will lose when Pedro Alvarez catches a ground ball, but then chucks it into the Wrigley Field outfield bleachers rather than throwing it to first base. Because why not at this point? Stephen Strasburg is pitching against the red hot Atlanta Braves on ESPN 2 tonight. I’m just saying.
First pitch from Paul Maholm, who will try to get an out in the second inning tonight, is at 8:05. The Cubs send Randy Wells to the mound. Clemente/Cangelosi is after the jump.

I want to start by noting that I see a few people who are jumping aboard on the game within the last couple days. If you can all hang tight for about a week, we’re going to do a soft reboot of everything and I’ll do my best to explain things much better. Then Don will proceed to destroy us again, I presume.
Anyways, Sunday’s game was a nice illustration of the funny quirks of WPA. Lastings Milledge’s home run was obviously a huge play in the game, but the single by Delwyn Young and double by Jose Tabata that actually tied the game ended up vaulting both of them ahead of Lastings on the WPA chart for the Clemente nods. Jason Jaramillo’s error and terrible game at the plate make him the night’s Cangelosi, while Ronny Cedeno’s ofer put him close behind. Only one person (azibuck) picked any one of those four in proper capacity, so he’s got himself on the board for his Ronny Cedeno pick.
