As much as the folks in Tampa want this to be a rivalry, it is not. When the Rays sell more seats to their fans than to fans of other teams and keep the stadium half full for a few years there could be a rivalry with maybe Baltimore. As for the Sox, the rivalry will always be with the Yankees, the Rays are more of a novelty or a distraction right now; slightly more interesting than inter-league play.
