Who’s Aisha? This is Aisha.
She’s on the cover of this week’s Time. And it’s part of a story on what women have to go through as the Taliban continues to have influence in Afghanistan. Read it and if you ever had doubts about the Taliban, you won’t anymore.
Aisha had her nose and ears cut off after she fled an abusive husband. The Taliban caught her and then ordered this harsh sentence. Aisha is in a shelter in Kabul, the Afghanistan capital and will be leaving for the United States to get surgery.
Time’s editor explains why he put Aisha on the cover this week and I’ll post a video of Time photographer Jodi Bieber talking about her decision to take the photographs of Aisha.
