Thomas Morstead Named Saints Man of the Year

Punter Thomas Morstead has been named theNew Orleans Saints Man of the Year, the team announced on Tuesday.

Morstead will be considered along with the nominees from the other 31 teams for the league-wide Walter Payton Man of the Year award. Finalists will be announced in January with the winner unveiled during the NFL Honors awards show on Jan. 31.

In its nomination, the team described Morstead as an “extraordinary asset to the New Orleans community” who has made the city his full-time home since being drafted by the Saints in 2009.

His foundation, What You Give Will Grow, “works to inspire action supporting the notion that giving back, at any level, makes a difference not only to those receiving kind actions, but to inspire others to give.”
