Update: Marcus Thornton expected to miss one to two weeks with injured thigh

The Sacramento Kings have just sent out a press release regarding the health of guard Marcus Thornton.

MARCUS THORNTON INJURY REPORT

SACRAMENTO, CA —- A diagnostic ultrasound test performed on guard Marcus Thornton today at the UC Davis Medical Center revealed a significant hematoma in his left thigh. He is expected to miss approximately one to two weeks of action.

Here’s video of Kings head coach Keith Smart talking about Thornton’s injury with media after shoot-around today.

Thornton has missed four games so far due to the injury and now it looks like he could be out a while.  He sustained the injury on January 9th against the Orlando Magic.  While Thornton tried to play through the injury, clearly the pain has become unmanageable and it’s time to shut it down.

There is no word yet on who will start in Thornton’s place.  Coach Smart has used both Jimmer Fredette and John Salmons alongside Tyreke Evans in Thornton’s absence.

The Kings announced earlier in the day that Chuck Hayes will miss game number 11 in a row as well.  We expect Jason Thompson to continue to start while Hayes dislocated left shoulder heals up.
