UPDATE– Bucknuts has a great story on Ryan’s situation, including a connection with one of Kent HS FB’s legacies. Check it out.
Sorry to break our streak of “no new content” with some disheartening news, but we wanted you to be aware of this story.
Ohio State recruit and Kent Roosevelt standout Ryan Anderson has been diagnosed with cancer, according to sources. The osteogenic sarcoma that is in his right leg is such that he will no longer be able to play football, among other things.
The 6′ 4″ 300+ young man also held scholarship offers from Boston College, Pittsburgh, and several MAC schools.
Obviously, this is beyond the “football” aspect of the Anderson’s life, and we will keep Ryan and his family in our thoughts and prayers throughout the coming years.
Hopefully his story will end similarly to Michigan State’s Arthur Ray Jr., who was cleared to participate after battling cancer for the past several years. It should be noted that the Spartans and Coach Dantonio allowed Ray to stay with the team during that time.
Again, Ryan’s story transcends athletics, but we hope that he and his family can return to days where his health is not an issue.
