Was that a beatdown? The Cards had the most hits in a game since 2008. Won by 4 runs on the road against a rival. Those are beatdownish things, right?
Then again, they blew 3 leads. You can't have a beatdown when you keep losing the win, right?
1. The Cardinals enter the All-Star break 21 games over .500. If I'd had told you that in March, you'd had been ecstatic. Let's not dwell on the fact that they should EASILY be at least 25 games over .500.
2. The Cardinals are 1 game up on Pittsburgh for the NL Central lead. Again, if I'd had told you that, you wouldn't have believed it. Too bad for Pirate fans we all know where they'll be by October 1…
3. A split with the Cubs is never good. But you'd rather win the last game of a series before the break and send everyone off on a positive note.
4. That'll be the last time Mike Matheny lets Trevor Rosenthal bat. Ever. Just make that a rule, Mike.
