First it was overtime going three on three, and now it’s the all star game. Well, not the all star game. It’s going to be a tournament, featuring a series of 3-3 games. This has to be troubling for the Players Union. Is the NHL looking to save costs by moving to a 3 on 3 league? Is that the emphasis on fewer players on the ice? Will that reduce the entire league workforce by 40%? Even if they do expand, just think of how much money the league will save by doing something like this. Whoa. Something to think about.
SCOREBOARD
Winnipeg 4, Vancouver 1 – Hery, Western Canada, isn’t it time to get your ass in gear?
Washington 2, Detroit 1 (OT) – The Caps are all right this year, huh?
Chicago 4, Edmonton 3 (OT) – Several weeks ago in this space, we said that the Edmonton Oilers had flipped the switch, and were turning it around. Barry Melrose Rocks regrets the error.
