Sidney Jones, Washington Cornerback, Washington vs California @ 10:30 on ESPN
Jones gives defensive coordinators incredible athletic ability and aggression. While playing the Pac-12 is not exactly the most attractive part on his resume, this should not be a deterrent for Jones. Jones has the skills to play in both a zone and man scheme, and he has great ball skills that translate to frequent turnovers. When Jones does let up the catch, he is usually the first defender to the ball, thanks to his aggressive mentality. Jones is also apt at stripping the ball away from receivers after the catch. He would be an asset for the Eagles because the team’s biggest weakness is at the corner position. Currently, Carroll has struggled, McKelvin has been injury prone, and Ron Brooks tore his ACL; there is no guarantee who will be on the field in the ensuing weeks. Right now, the only lock on the roster is Jalen Mills, who shows flashes of greatness for the Birds. To build the defense, drafting a cornerback should be the top priority. I really think this defense is two solid cornerbacks away from being a top three NFL defense.
Jarrad Davis, Florida Outside Linebacker, Florida vs Arkansas @3:30 on CBS
Davis is a great tackler who fights off blocks with the best of them. He reads offensive schemes masterfully and wrecks havoc. Don’t be mistaken, Davis is great in coverage, too. You can match him up with any running back or tight end, and he will hold up well. Davis’ only weakness is his size. However, he is a guy who will test well in the combine, which will likely make him a definite first round pick. Because Jim Schwartz is not a big fan of Mychal Kendricks, who is coming off his best game of the year, he might replace him in the offseason. They could get a decent draft pick for him considering the Eagles will eat up nearly $4.8 in dead money on his contract. If Davis is sitting there when the Eagles are up, I wouldn’t rule him out for the Eagles.
Dede Westbrook, Oklahoma Wide Receiver, Oklahoma vs Iowa State @7:30 on ESPN
Westbrook would bring something to the Eagles that they haven’t had since 2014–a deep threat. He is a guy you want to get involved early in the game, like Desean Jackson. Westbrook will be a likely day-two guy; if I were in the Eagles’ front office, I would take him in the second round. As I mentioned earlier, Westbrook reminds me a lot of Desean Jackson. Westbrook runs a 4.3 second 40-time and stands 5 feet 11 inches. Admittedly, he doesn’t have the best hands, but doesn’t need to, because he isn’t a possession wide. Westbrook should definitely be on the Eagles radar, and Howie Roseman, top personnel guy, should see what Westbrook would bring to the Eagles’ organization.
