Three Things We Learned: Vikings vs Lions

i (10)

The Minnesota Vikings defeated the Detroit Lions 28-19 on Sunday to advance to 4-2 on the season and more importantly 2-0 in the NFC North. Below are three things we learned from the Vikings second victory over the Motor City Kitties this season.

Stefon Diggs is THAT Good

The rookie receiver out of Maryland continued to prove why he deserves to start in Norv Turner’s offense. Diggs amassed 106 yards on six catchers and more impressivly his first NFL touchdown which earned the #7 spot on SportCenter’s “Top 10 plays of the day.” Diggs now has 324 yards on the season and seemingly won’t be giving his starting spot back to Charles Johnson anytime this season.

Vikings got Crucial Road Win

Minnesota was just 2-8 on the road under Mike Zimmer’s tenure, but picked up a crucial NFC North victory on the road. Sunday’s win made the North a two team race between Green Bay and Minnesota and perhaps removed some doubt as to the Vikings’ road capabilities. The Purple will need to build on the Lions’ victory moving forward headed to Soldier Field where they take on Chicago next weekend, a place the Vikings have historically struggled.

Adrian Peterson needs to Lay off the Shellfish

“All Day” had a down game by his standards, *only* rushing for 98 yards on 5.2 yards per carry, a 75 yard chunk of that on one play. On the pre-game show, FOX play-by-play man Chris Myers reported that Peterson swallowed chewing tobacco on the team’s flight to Detroit, a claim Peterson refutes. AP says he had a mild reaction to Shellfish, which he is allergic to. Whatever the circumstances Peterson needs to get his game back in gear against the Bears, facing off against fellow star running back Matt Forte next week in Chicago.
