Happy Thursday everyone. Hopefully your day doesn’t suck as much as Todd McShay’s. [via Tirico Suave]
- Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger was suspended for the first 6 games of the season by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell after his recent incident with a woman in a bar. Forgive me for not really knowing what happened, but I don’t really feel like hearing all about how much of a creeper Big Ben is. The real point here? The Steelers are fuuucked.
- Speaking of Roger Goodell, Real Fake Sports did some investigative journalism (or something like that) and figured out that it was Goodell that suspended Kevin Garnett, not NBA commish David Stern as originally thought. Interesting to know.
- Around the Horn Baseball reports that Stephen Strasburg will be called up to the majors in May, if not sooner. I like that the Nationals sent Strasburg to AA Harrisburg to start the season, but he’s proved that he belongs in the bigs.
- The Blog That Yost Built has an update for ticket sales for The Big Chill at the Big House, a.k.a. the Michigan-Michigan State outdoor hockey game taking place next season. Apparently over 60,000 tickets have already been sold. Judging by the e-mail I just got from MSU announcing that tickets were on sale, that number is about to shoot up. Get ’em while you can people.
- Former Stanford RB Toby Gerhart will definitely be drafted sometime on Thursday or Friday, but many think he’d be a lock to go in the first round if he were black. I definitely agree that there’s a stereotype, much like the one against black quarterbacks. Regardless of skin color, I’d like to see him in Honolulu blue next season.
- It seems a bit random as far as timing goes, but whatever. Gunaxin offers up a tribute to Jennifer Coolidge, a.k.a. Stifler’s mom, the world’s original MILF.
- I’m a few days late on this, but Matt from Sharapova’s Thigh just about lost it when he heard that 7-Eleven is not only making their own beer, but their own video games too.
- A couple of quick hits you wouldn’t expect to see: Nightmare on Helm Street commends Versus for a job well done (so far), and Piston Powered defends Charlie Villanueva and Ben Gordon.
