Just one more day until it all begins. I’m excited.
- Apparently there was a hockey game last night. Patrick Kane scored an overtime goal that only he saw go in to win the Stanley Cup for the Chicago Blackhawks. The widespread bewilderment throughout the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia made this one of the most anti-climactic Cup finishes of all-time.
- Conference expansion rumors ran wild yesterday, as ESPN reported that Nebraska would likely join the Big Ten. Not do be outdone, the Pac Ten looks like they are ready to invite 6 teams from the Big 12 to join their conference.
- A 16-team Pac 10 might make for some exciting football, but only 15 of those teams have a shot at the Rose Bowl. USC was slapped with a 2-year postseason ban by the NCAA. Pete Carroll is all smiles though.

The Only Colors has been all over the “Tom Izzo to Cleveland” rumors. Being that one false report has already been released, I’m not sure who in the mainstream media I would trust to deliver any sort of breakthrough. KJ’s latest is here, head on over to see everything else he’s written on this story.
-
Speaking of The Only Colors, they (along with Bless You Boys) will be hosting open threads for the World Cup. Head over to BYB on Friday and TOC on Saturday (if you can look away from your TV) to chat about the beautiful game with some familiar
screennamesfaces. -
The University of Oregon dismissed QB Jeremiah Masoli from their football team yesterday after multiple run-ins with the law this offseason. Thunder Treats has wasted no time in comparing him to another troubled college football athlete.
-
Kissing Suzy Kolber is in South Africa covering the U.S. soccer team (not really) and was able to sit in on a team meeting. Let’s just say that the U.S. is plenty motivated to beat England on Saturday.
-
Pittsburgh Sports and Mini Ponies is amused by the idea of voting Pirates players to the All-Star game (and not happy about the loading times of some websites).
-
I stayed away from this until more info came in, but it looks like Golden Tate of the Seattle Seahawks was caught trespassing in a donut shop at 3 AM earlier this week. Something tells me Charlie Weis is involved.
Today’s random video and highlight after the jump…
RANDOM AWESOME VIDEO OF THE DAY
Jeremy Roenick broke down on national TV last night after the Chicago Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup. I’m far from being a Chicago fan, butit was cool to see that kind of emotion from someone who spent so much of his career in that city.
