Thursday Links – Holidays Coming Early, The Palace Brawl, & Melo for MVP?

I had today’s original links post finished and was about to hit submit when Internet Explorer (I was at work, don’t give me that look) crashed. We’ll try to recreate the greatness that was with a few must-read pieces.

  • New coach? Check. New uniforms? Check. The N’awlins Hornets have unveiled two Mardi Gras-themed jerseys to be worn in February. Unfortunately, beads aren’t included.
  • The Baseline thinks that Dirk Nowitzki deserves some attention for MVP in the early season. I agree, but I’ll throw out another name: Carmelo Anthony. He’s taken his game to another level this year. That, and it gives me an excuse to post this video.
  • There are too many jokes to make about this one. I bet it took a lot of brainpower for an Ohio State senior to choose “icky” as her adjective of choice when talking about the lake. Then there’s the amazing “Have fun, but don’t open your mouth.” Not to worry, most OSU females are usually busy opening other parts of their anatomy. Boom roasted. [via Deadspin]

  • Today marks the five-year anniversary of the Palace Brawl. Dave Hogg re-posted his first-hand account of the brawl today. [via Detroit Bad Boys]
  • Gunaxin has a great list of the top 10 jobs in football. I’m gonna go out on a limb and call #4 the best of those 10.
