Thursday Links – Trading the Farm, The Greatest Goalie Ever, & Crazy Rex Ryan

  • The Baseline takes a look at Rodney Stuckey and how this season could make or break his career. I’d like to give him the benefit of the doubt with the coaching changes, A.I. fiasco, etc. but this is his year to shine. Hopefully he can take advantage of the opportunity in front of him. Make sure to look at some of the other guys from the 2007 draft that need to have big years too.
  • Bless You Boys is currently bursting with Tigers trade rumors: both Brandon Inge and Curtis Granderson are reportedly on the block. I don’t know what they are asking for in return, but trading those two sounds like an easy way to alienate your fanbase in a hurry. Disagree? What if the Wings traded Pavel Datsyuk for John Tavares and a first-rounder?
  • I’m not big on stats, but it looks like the spread offense is dying in the Big 12. Kansas coach Mark Mangino was quoted saying, “I think it goes back to the old adage that coaches want to run the ball, control the clock and play great defense.” That, and if you haven’t noticed Mangino isn’t exactly a little guy and concessions prices are outrageous these days. • It’s game night again in Hockeytown, this time with the GREATEST GOALIE OF ALL-TIME LIKE SERIOUSLY EVER coming to the Joe. Hopefully the Wings saved some goals from last night. Babcock’s Death Stare has a nice interview with Dan Cloutier for Vezina, who gives some insight on the Canucks season so far.

  • Apparently we’re pretty hardcore gamers here at D4L, with a video game related link two days in a row. Deadspin has the lowdown on a possible anti-trust lawsuit against EA Sports for monopolizing the market on NFL games with the Madden franchise. Honestly, I hope it doesn’t turn into anything. Madden 10 is by far the greatest football game I’ve ever played. Keep it up EA.

  • I don’t know how they do it, but Kissing Suzy Kolber has yet another hysterical conversation between Jets coach Rex Ryan and QB Mark Sanchez.
  • Matt Watson of Detroit Bad Boys has a new post up at NBA Fanhouse looking at the Pistons’ “rebuilding” project, with some nice insight on the rookies’ increased PT.
Rob’s Highlight of the Day
Since everyone has seen the highlight of Will Bynum dunking on Tyson Chandler about 50 times already, I’m going in a different direction with today’s highlight. Earlier in the Pistons’ game, Ben Gordon had a nice alley-oop to rookie Jonas Jerebko on the fast break. [via Motown String Music]
And if you haven’t seen the Bynum dunks yet, check out Need4Sheed.
