With his return to competitive golf just days away, Tiger Woods sat down Monday for a candid Q & A with several dozen media members. Woods will tee off Thursday, as part of the field participating in the 2010 Masters tournament.
The first interview of it’s type since his golf hiatus began, interviewers weren’t restricted by a tight time schedule, nor were they forbidden to breach any certain topics. Tiger didn’t dance around any specific questions, and appeared to be rather relaxed behind the podium. When asked if answering of such personal questions made him nervous today, he stated that playing in the actual tournament was what really had his nerves going.
Woods went on to make several apologies throughout the interview, which lasted a little over a half an hour. He apologized to his fellow PGA players and once again to the young fans who looked up to him.
The last tournament Woods competed in was the Australian Open last November. At one point during that tournament, he threw his driver into the crowd, out of frustration brought on by an errant tee shot. Today, he vowed to treat the game of golf more respectfully, by toning down both his negative and positive outbursts on the course.
His sincerity and honesty during Mondays conference was good to see, especially since the last time he addressed the media, he came off as being rather robotic.
