Scott Sizemore finally got his long-overdue call up to the majors before last night’s game against the New York Yankees. On a related note, the Tigers won said game 4-2, snapping a 7-game losing streak.
As we’ve already implied, Sizemore had a lot to do with that win. He went 3-4 with an RBI, showing the kind of offensive pop that has been missing from the lineup when Will Rhymes was at 2B.
Brad Penny continued to pitch well, throwing 6 innings while giving up only 1 run. Austin Jackson, hitting in front of Sizemore (also not a coincidence), went 2-5 with a triple and 2 runs scored.
We had the interns crunch some numbers and realized the following: without Scott Sizemore, the Tigers are only winning about 40% of their games. With Sizemore in the lineup, they are winning 100% of those games. This foolproof method shows that Sizemore should clearly be the 2nd baseman of the present (and future) in Detroit. Case closed.
